The eleventh edition of this UCI race presents a brand new XCO circuit in one of its four stages

The race opens registrations next Tuesday, November 5, with the option of choosing one or more days of competition

The eleventh edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike will start on May 15, 2025. There will be four days and four different stages through amazing places in the southern part of the island of Gran Canaria. The race returns with an exciting and challenging format in equal parts, where cyclists of all skills can participate. And this year with new routes that will offer even more spectacle to its athletes.

The 2025 edition will once again be part of the UCI calendar – S2 category – and will take place between May 15 and 18. Before that, on Tuesday, November 5, registration process will open through the official race website. The 2025 routes will once again run through different types of terrain where participants will have to demonstrate their skills on faster and more technical sections.

The biggest change of this renewed edition will be an Olympic Cross Country (XCO) stage, a modality where cyclists will have to complete six laps of the new 5.5-kilometer circuit (33 kilometers in total). This new stage will offer participants more excitement and another alternative within this exciting four-day competition.

Transgrancanaria Bike will return with its four-stage open format where participants will be able to choose between competing in all stages (All Stages) or the stages individually. The first stage will be on Thursday, May 15 and will start from Cañón del Águila; 45.6 kilometres with 740 metres of positive elevation to start the adventure. On Friday, the Time Trial will take place from Parque Sur to Ayagaures; 23.5 kilometres of pure excitement with 608 metres of positive elevation. The third day will be the turn of the long-awaited XCO from Barranco de Maspalomas; a 5.5-kilometre circuit with 700 metres of elevation where cyclists will have to cover six laps for a total of 33 kilometres. To finish the weekend, the athletes will face the longest stage with the greatest elevation; 69.7 kilometres and 1,261 metres of positive elevation with start and finish in Parque Sur de Maspalomas. This last stage will also have its registration available for the E-Bike modality, which will have its start from Ayagaures and finish in Parque Sur.

Here are the four stages for 2025:

First stage – Tirajana: Thursday, May 15 | 45.6 km and 740m of elevation.

Second stage – Time trial: Friday, May 16 | 23.5 km and 608m of elevation.

Third stage – XCO circuit: Saturday, May 17 | 33 km (6 laps of a 5.5 km circuit) with 700m of elevation.

Last stage – Maspalomas: Sunday, May 18 | 69.7 km and 1,261m of elevation.

The last edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike brought together 450 participants, which demonstrates the continuous improvement year after year of a race that for the third consecutive year will be included in the UCI calendar, also bringing together the most outstanding professional teams and riders on the national and international scene, such as the Dutch Hans Becking and Rosa Van Doorn (Buff Megamo); the Spaniards Sergio Mantecón and Natalia Fischer (Scott Cala Bandida); the also Spanish Miguel Muñoz and Roberto Bou (Klimatiza Orbea Team); the Dutchwoman based in Lanzarote, Tessa Kortekaas (Cannondale ISB Sport) and the Romanian based in Gran Canaria, Manuela Muresan. They are joined by the Canarian elite such as Blas Rivero (Z2 Bike); Néstor Rodríguez (RIU Pro Team); or the cyclists Isabel Castro, Cathaysa Sánchez and Vanessa Lessa (Bike Point Tenerife).

The Fred.Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike, organized by Arista Eventos, is sponsored by Fred. Olsen Express. It also receives support from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the institutions Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Instituto Insular de Deportes, as well as from the Government of the Canary Islands with Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida. The Ayuntamiento de San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Maspalomas Costa Canaria also provide their backing.
